The
Eureka Suite was written by John Munro in 1998, originally
as a one-off project. A CD was produced with such notables
as Eric Bogle, John Schuman, Brent Miller, Kat Kraus
and Mike O'Callaghan singing and playing the songs.
Realising
that this was something that was too good to leave alone
the members of Colcannon persuaded John to write a narrative
so that they could present the Eureka Suite as a powerful
performance piece.
This they did! Colcannon received a standing ovation
and were delighted to be asked to perform the Eureka
Suite in Ballarat during the Eureka commemoration year.

John
wrote The Kelly Collection in 2001 after becoming fascinated
by the story of Australia's most famous bushranger, Ned
Kelly.
In
John's typical modest style he never anticipated that
Colcannon would again realise the potential of this highly
emotive story. Colcannon's arrangements of the songs gives
the story a true Australian spirit and, whilst John doesn't
make judgement on Ned's short but colouful life, he cleverly
lets the listener decide.
