Carry Me Away
J.C. Munro / P. Titchener
Sunrise
on the Murray
Wake to haloed skies
Sunlight on the water
Highlights dancing in my eyes
Drifting into Bowhill
Where the black swans guard the way
And they turn their heads in quiet disdain
And maybe let me stay
River
carry me away
Where the ocean meets the sky
Turn me loose and let me fly
River carry me away
To another day
The
cliff face shows its age
Through layers of the past
Willows sweep the surface
As the river sweeps me past
Stillness in the movement
And the movement speeds me on
But at last the timeless river
Will forget me when I'm gone
River
carry me away
Where the ocean meets the sky
Turn me loose and let me fly
River carry me away
To another day
The
river takes me in
The river takes me on
A thousand miles of slow hypnotic motion
And the river takes me down
And the river takes me out
And gives me to the great Southern Ocean
River
carry me away
Where the ocean meets the sky
Turn me loose and let me fly
River carry me away
To another day
