Journeyman
J C Munro / P Titchener
I
followed his eyes as they guided his hands
He gave of his wisdom, I took his commands
The master’s apprentice and happy to be
Yet I looked to the day when he’d set me free (So that..)
I’d
be a Journeyman
Plying my trade
No more apprentices
Wages I’m paid
I’ve served my master
And I’ve served my time
Call me a Journeyman
It’ll do me just fine
From Glasgow to London, from Swansea to Cork,
I’ve carried the secrets and shouldered the work
I’m a man made complete by the fruits of my trade
Yet I’ve left part of me in the things that I’ve made
(Because now …
I’m
a Journeyman
Plying my trade
No more apprentices
Wages I’m paid
I’ve served my master
And I’ve served my time
Call me a Journeyman
It’ll do me just fine
Now
I am the master I can’t help but see
It’s the craft makes the journey through time and through
me
To share what I know is the promise I make
In the end it’s a journey not just mine to take (even though..
I’m
a Journeyman
Plying my trade
No more apprentices
Wages I’m paid
I’ve served my master
And I’ve served my time
Call me a Journeyman
It’ll do me just fine
These
hands that tell tales in each callous and line
These feet treading footsteps far greater than mine
Servant to master to servant once more
That’s the Journeyman’s journey
